It shows a long, exhilarating zoom shot through opulent cloudscapes, masses of water, froth and foam, fantastic structures. Is it researching the origin of the world, the Big Bang, or is it looking into an unclear future? The oscillating pull of our endless universe, l'appel du vide? Susi Gelb (b. 1985 in Bad Tölz, Germany) is a visual artist who lives in Berlin. In Susi Gelb's artistic cosmos, the boundaries between nature and technology, the organic and the artificial are blurred and ultimately dissolved. Her works transcend the intuitive horizon and explore technological boundaries. The films, sculptures and objects are hybrids of high-tech materials, archaic techniques and natural entities. Her art is also enigmatic, nothing is completely tangible or controllable.
Recent exhibitions include Loopzring at The Lighthouse Zurich (Zurich, CH), Kritamon Oracle (Samos, GR), Gegenüberstellungen at Museum Schloss Moyland (Bedburg-Hau) and Unworlding (Frieze London). In 2015 Susi Gelb founded the nomadic artist-run space easyupstream and has curated several group shows.
